Making your own pom poms is fun and easy. Plus, you don’t need any fancy tools or supplies. I originally made these pom poms for my Christmas decor but, now I am considering some other places I can use them around my house.
HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

- Yarn
- Small Piece of Wood(You can ask for scrap wood at your local hardware store)
- 2- 2″ Nails(Finishing nails without a head on top)
- Hammer
- Scissors
STEP 1: BUILD FANCY POM POM MAKER

Alright I know this is anything but “Fancy” but it works. Simply hammer the nails into the board according to your desired pom pom size. I spaced them at 3″ for large pom poms, 2″ for medium size, and 1.5″ for small size.
STEP 2: WRAP YARN AROUND NAIL HEADS
Hold one end of the yarn with your thumb and start wrapping it around the nail heads. I wrapped it around 40 times for the 3″ pom poms, 30 times for the 2″ pom poms, and 20 times for the 1.5″ pom poms.
STEP 3: TIE OFF POM POM

Cut a 8″ piece of yarn and tie a knot around the middle of the pom pom. Tip: I actually wrapped it around twice and did a second knot because I felt like it was easier to make the second knot tighter. Then pull the pom pom off of the nails.(This is why you need nails without heads on them)
STEP 4: CUT ANd TRIM

Cut both sides of the pom pom and trim the yarn to make all of the strands even.

And there you have it! A Pom Pom!
