I’ve been slowly working on my kitchen remodel for a few months now. The project has been on my to do list for years and I finally decided to go for it when my oven died in January. I thought it would be the perfect time. College students wouldn’t be home until the summer, husband at work all day, teenagers doing their thing at school…then Pandemic!
Suddenly, everyone was home with me ALL-DAY-EVERYDAY and my kitchen progress slowed. Do you know how difficult it is to remodel a room when there are constantly people in it? It was crazy!
Even with the constant distractions, I still accomplished a bunch of items on my punch list. However, there is still a ton to do. So I decided I to join the One Room Challenge and get this room done. Here are some before pictures:

And here is my mood board for the new design:

THE PLAN
- Order new appliances
- Move the microwave
- Build and install new hood over range
- Paint the cabinets
- Remove/Replace the tile backsplash
- New hardware
- Paint pantry door and exterior patio door
- Do something unique with the island???
- Figure out the flooring
Actually, I really want to replace the tile floor with some type of hardwood, but it won’t be happening in the next couple of months. There are just too many people hanging around this place to do that kind of renovation. So I might have to come up with another idea:) Stick around and see what happens.
Hey Loralee! I’m excited to see your kitchen transformation. Mine looks very similar to yours right now (maybe worse!) and I’m dreaming of doing a reno soon.
Those pendants are just gorgeous!
